Hi, I am Trudy Wassenaar and I am the curator of this museum. Allow me to introduce myself.

I studied biochemistry in Wales, UK, and worked as a molecular biologist on ribosomal protein biosynthesis in yeast at the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, where my roots are. After that I did my Ph.D. at the University of Utrecht in that same country. During my Ph.D, I developed a life-long interest in molecular microbiology with Campylobacter jejuni as the key organism of my research. In 1993 I moved to the University of Mainz in Germany. In 1999 I started working on a freelance basis which accumulated in the formation of my own company: Molecular Microbiology and Genomics Consultants. Check the Medline for a list of recent publications.

I started as curator of the Museum of Bacteria in April 1999 and as such I am responsible for the development, content and layout of the museum. My general interests, beside science, are classical music, ballet, travels, history, and biology. I am mother of two sons, aged 9 and 11.
