Trudy Wassenaar, Curator
Hi, I am Trudy Wassenaar and I am the curator of this museum. Allow me to introduce myself.
I studied biochemistry in Wales, UK, and worked as a molecular biologist for a few years at the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, where my roots are. Then I did my Ph.D. at the University of Utrecht in Veterinary Microbiology. During these years I developed a life-long interest in bacteria. In 1993 I moved with my family to Germany and worked at the University of Mainz, in Medical Microbiology for a while. In 1999 I formed my own company: Molecular Microbiology and Genomics Consultants. Since 2005 I am also part-time professor at the Danish Technical University, Center of Biological Sequence Analysis, where I work in the field of Bioinformatics.
As the curator of this Virtual Museum of Bacteria, I am responsible for the development, content and selection of links in all exhibits. My general interests, beside science, are classical music, ballet, travels, history, and biology. I am mother of two sons, aged 13 and 15.
